Happy April Rotarians!

Spring has sprung!  It’s finally time for the days to get longer and nights to get shorter.

On April 22, 1970, we celebrated the first Earth Day launching a wave of action to protect our planet.  Rotary has designated Apil’s theme as Environmental Month. Did you know The Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) assists Rotary clubs and districts in building awareness, inspiring action and planning service projects that focus on environmental sustainability, awareness of climate change, and actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  Since we just had a program about bees, I found it interesting what one of the German Rotaract Clubs projects are working on involves bees.  They have been working to educate people about the importance of bees to the environment.  The club members are taking steps to stem the bees’ decline by building wooden “bee hotels” where wild bees can safely make their nests and lay eggs.   What a fun way to help our ecosystem!  Also, speaking of bees, now is the time to stock up on those allergy meds as the bees make their way to all the blooming flowers.  Enjoy the sunny mild days ahead.

Best,
Jeni Adams

Rotary Leadership Camp offers an opportunity to discuss the possibilities and responsibilities of being a servant leader, and highlights what Rotary is doing in different communities! Throughout the camp students will learn about themselves and others, and about motivation and teamwork. The students will discover that he or she cannot be a leader without being a servant first.
